Right tibia stress fracture
GM John Paxson confirmed to reporters on April 9 that Deng will not play again in the regular season
Paxson also said that if the Bulls were to make an extended run in the 2009 NBA Playoffs, he would not rule out Deng’s return if his symptoms have improved
"I increased the workout a little bit and had a great deal of pain," Deng told reporters on April 7. "I'm just going to try to be off everything for a little bit and try it again. I feel like even if I'm capable of getting back to play for five minutes or 10 minutes, whatever, that could help. Those guys are playing a lot of minutes."
Deng had an examination on March 4 by Dr. Brian Cole of Midwest Orthopedics at Rush Medical Center. A review of a repeat MRI, and CT scan of his tibia, indicated that this injury represents an early anterior tibial stress fracture.
Symptoms, developing on Feb. 28 when the Bulls played the Houston Rockets, prompted the March 4 evaluation
